Decision tables and enterprise rules for object linking within an application platform as a service environment

A method comprising:

• providing on an application platform as a service (aPaaS) platform a hosted client instance that is communicatively coupled with a remote client device via a network interface, the aPaaS platform including a plurality of application objects;
• creating an enterprise rule for the hosted client instance, the enterprise rule being triggered in response to one or more predetermined computing conditions being satisfied;
• setting a decision action element for the enterprise rule, the decision action element being executed in response to the enterprise rule being triggered, wherein the decision action element is implemented based on a decision table that includes decision inputs and respective condition logic based on the decision inputs for each of a plurality of decision answers associated with the decision table, wherein each of the plurality of decision answers of the decision table is a reference to one of the plurality of application objects, and wherein the decision table is external to and decoupled from the enterprise rule;
• setting a first decision answer action element for the enterprise rule, the first decision answer action element being set to execute in response to a decision answer served-up by the decision table being a first one of the plurality of decision answers associated with the decision table;
• and
• setting a second decision answer action element for the enterprise rule, the second decision answer action element being set to execute in response to the decision answer served-up by the decision table being a second one of the plurality of decision answers associated with the decision table;
• wherein each of the first and second decision answer action elements sets a field value of a corresponding record in a corresponding table to reference another record in another table.

A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having stored thereon a program, the program comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more hardware processors, cause the one or more hardware processors to:

• provide on an application platform as a service (aPaaS) platform a hosted client instance that is communicatively coupled with a remote client device via a network interface, the aPaaS platform including a plurality of application objects;
• create an enterprise rule for the hosted client instance, the enterprise rule being triggered in response to one or more predetermined computing conditions being satisfied;
• set a decision action element for the enterprise rule, the decision action element being executed in response to the enterprise rule being triggered, wherein the decision action element is implemented based on a decision table that includes decision inputs and respective condition logic based on the decision inputs for each of a plurality of decision answers associated with the decision table, wherein each of the plurality of decision answers of the decision table is a reference to one of the plurality of application objects, and wherein the decision table is external to and decoupled from the enterprise rule;
• set a first decision answer action element for the enterprise rule, the first decision answer action element being set to execute in response to a decision answer served-up by the decision table being a first one of the plurality of decision answers associated with the decision table;
• and
• set a second decision answer action element for the enterprise rule, the second decision answer action element being set to execute in response to the decision answer served-up by the decision table being a second one of the plurality of decision answers associated with the decision table;
• wherein each of the first and second decision answer action elements sets a field value of a corresponding record in a corresponding table to reference another record in another table.
