Abstract
The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and a method for managing power in an electronic device. According to the various embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for operating an electronic device comprises determining a wake-up period based on at least one of a received signal strength and a state of the electronic device, and controlling a wireless communication module of the electronic device based on the wake-up period.
Claims20
An A method for operating an electronic device, the method comprising:
- determining a wake-up period based on at least one of a received signal strength and a state of the electronic device;
- and
- controlling a wireless communication module of the electronic device based on the wake-up period.
The method of claim 16, wherein the determining of the wake-up period comprises determining the wake-up period based on an average bit rate of a content and a current reception rate if the running application is a streaming application for playing back the content in the active mode of the electronic device.
The method of claim 17, wherein the determining of the wake-up period comprises:
- outputting the notification of the received packet in the active mode of the electronic device;
- detecting a user input responsive to the notification;
- and
- determining the wake-up period based on the user input.
An electronic device comprising:
- a wireless communication module;
- and
- a first processor configured to:
- determine a wake-up period based on at least one of a received signal strength or a state of the electronic device, and
- control the wireless communication module based on the wake-up period.
The electronic device of claim 18, wherein the first processor is further configured to determine the wake-up period based on an average bit rate of a content and a current reception rate if the running application is a streaming application for playing back the content in the active mode of the electronic device.
The electronic device of claim 19, wherein the first processor is further configured to:
- output the notification of the received packet in the active mode of the electronic device,
- detect a user input responsive to the notification, and
- determine the wake-up period based on the user input.
The electronic device of claim 20, further comprising a second processor configured to determine the wake-up period based on a beacon count that represents a number of wake-ups in the sleep mode of the electronic device if the received signal strength exceeds a predefined first threshold value and the movement speed of the electronic device is less than or equal to a predefined second threshold value.
