## Abstract

Systems and methods for treating sexual dysfunction using transcranial photobiomodulation (t-PBM) with near infrared light (NIR) are provided. In particular, a device configured for treating a disorder of a subject, the device can have a power source and a light source configured to receive power from the power source to cause the light source to emit near infrared light, wherein the near-infrared light has a wavelength of 600 nm to 1400 nm. The device has a processor and a housing configured to position the light source to deliver the near infrared light to a region of interest of the subject via transcranial photobiomodulation in a dosimetry and duration sufficient to treat the disorder.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A device configured for treating a sexual dysfunction of a subject, the device comprising:
a power source;
a light source configured to receive power from the power source to cause the light source to emit near-infrared light, wherein the near-infrared light has a wavelength of 600 nm to 1400 nm;
a processor; and
a housing configured to position the light source to deliver the near infrared light to a region of interest of the subject via transcranial photobiomodulation in a dosimetry and duration sufficient to treat the sexual dysfunction of the subject.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the subject is depressed.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the sexual dysfunction includes at least one of impaired libido, impaired sexual arousal, delayed or absent orgasm.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the near-infrared light has one of a wavelength of about 825 nm, a wavelength of about 850 nm, or a wavelength of about 808 nm to about 830 nm.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the processor is configured to cause the light source to implement a duration of delivery of near infrared light of about 1 minute to about 120 minutes per day.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the near infrared light is delivered at a wavelength of 830 nm at an average irradiance up to 36.2 mW/cm2 and a fluence over 30 min up to 65.2 J/cm2, with a treatment window of 28.7 cm2.

### Claim 7

A method of controlling a device configured for treating a disorder of a subject, the method comprising:
providing power to a device having a light source to cause the light source to emit near infrared light to a region of interest of the subject, wherein the near-infrared light has a wavelength of 600 nm to 1400 nm; and
delivering near infrared light to a region of interest of the subject via transcranial photobiomodulation in a dosimetry and duration sufficient to treat the disorder.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the disorder is sexual dysfunction.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the disorder is at least one of impaired libido, impaired sexual arousal, delayed or absent orgasm.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the near-infrared light has one of a wavelength of about 825 nm, a wavelength of about 850 nm, or a wavelength of about 808 nm to about 830 nm.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the duration of delivery of near infrared light is about 1 minute to about 120 minutes per day.

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the near infrared light is delivered at a wavelength of 830 nm at an average irradiance up to 36.2 mW/cm2 and a fluence over 30 min up to 65.2 J/cm2, with a treatment window of 28.7 cm2.

### Claim 13

A device configured for treating a disorder of a subject, the device comprising:
a power source;
a light source configured to receive power from the power source to cause the light source to emit near-infrared light, wherein the near-infrared light has a wavelength of 600 nm to 1400 nm;
a processor; and
a housing configured to position the light source to deliver the near infrared light to a region of interest of the subject via transcranial photobiomodulation in a dosimetry and duration sufficient to treat the disorder.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the disorder is sexual dysfunction.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the disorder is at least one of impaired libido, impaired sexual arousal, delayed or absent orgasm.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the near-infrared light has one of a wavelength of about 825 nm, a wavelength of about 850 nm, or a wavelength of about 808 nm to about 830 nm.
