Adapting search query processing according to locally detected video content consumption

A system for identifying audio fingerprints, the system comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• a hardware processor coupled to the memory that is programmed to:
• generate, at a server, for a plurality of video content items, a corresponding plurality of audio fingerprints;
• identify a subset of the plurality of video content items based on scheduled broadcast times of the video content items in the plurality of video content items in a predetermined geographical region;
• transmit the audio fingerprints corresponding to the identified subset of the plurality of video content items to a user device for storage on the user device;
• and
• receive, from the user device, a search query, wherein the search query was transmitted to the server in response to a comparison of audio content recorded by the user device to the audio fingerprints corresponding to the identified subset of the plurality of video content items transmitted to the user device.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for identifying audio fingerprints, the method comprising:

• generating, at a server, for a plurality of video content items, a corresponding plurality of audio fingerprints;
• identifying a subset of the plurality of video content items based on scheduled broadcast times of the video content items in the plurality of video content items in a predetermined geographical region;
• transmitting the audio fingerprints corresponding to the identified subset of the plurality of video content items to a user device for storage on the user device;
• and
• receiving, from the user device, a search query, wherein the search query was transmitted to the server in response to a comparison of audio content recorded by the user device to the audio fingerprints corresponding to the identified subset of the plurality of video content items transmitted to the user device.
