Abstract
Communication events often produce a significant volume and variety of data. While such data is often useful as a teaching or configuration tool or as a source of troubleshooting information, such information often results in “information overload.” By providing a “highlight reel,” communication data comprising only relevant information, which may be further limited to a specific number of duration of events, allows for key data to be identified for presentation and avoid the need to further process, store, or otherwise maintain irrelevant or less relevant data.

A system, comprising:
- a microprocessor, comprising a memory for the storage of instructions for execution by the microprocessor;
- a communications interface;
- and
- a data storage accessible to the microprocessor via the communication interface;
- and
- wherein the microprocessor:
- accesses the data storage comprising communication events;
- accesses a criterion;
- accessing a duration limit;
- identifies a first subset of communication events comprising communication events that match the criterion and wherein the first subset of communication events is restricted to no more than the duration limit;
- and
- causes the data storage to store indicia of the first subset.
