Design for user privacy protection on autonomous driving vehicles

A non-transitory machine-readable medium having instructions stored therein, which when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations of operating an autonomous driving vehicle, the operations comprising:

• displaying one or more first data items associated with a planned trip associated with a user and a storage choice for each of the first data items on a display device within an autonomous driving vehicle (ADV), wherein the storage choice includes a selection of whether the user wishes to store each of the first data items in a persistent storage of the ADV during the planned trip;
• receiving user inputs indicative of user preferences for storing the first data items, including a first selection indicating that the user wishes to store a first subset of the first data items;
• and
• in response to the first selection, storing the first subset of the first data items in a persistent storage during the planned trip.

A data processing system, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the processor to store instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations, the operations including
• displaying one or more first data items associated with a planned trip associated with a user and a storage choice for each of the first data items on a display device within an autonomous driving vehicle (ADV), wherein the storage choice includes a selection of whether the user wishes to store each of the first data items in a persistent storage of the ADV during the planned trip,
• receiving user inputs indicative of user preferences for storing the first data items, including a first selection indicating that the user wishes to store a first subset of the first data items, and
• in response to the first selection, storing the first subset of the first data items in a persistent storage during the planned trip.
