Image processing apparatus having image adjustment based on dynamic range, image processing method, and storage medium

An image processing apparatus comprising:

• a first adjusting unit configured to switch and perform, on a raw image, a first dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a first dynamic range and a second dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a second dynamic range wider than the first dynamic range;
• and
• a second adjusting unit configured to perform a second image adjustment on an image after the first dynamic range image adjustment or the second dynamic range image adjustment,
• wherein, in a case where switching between the first dynamic range image adjustment and the second dynamic range image adjustment is performed, the second adjusting unit uses, for the image after the first dynamic range image adjustment or the second dynamic range image adjustment, among a plurality of adjustment parameters used in the second image adjustment, an adjustment parameter that does not depend on a gamma characteristic, and does not use an adjustment parameter that depends on the gamma characteristic, and
• wherein the first adjusting unit and the second adjusting unit are implemented via at least one processor.

An image processing method comprising:

• switching and performing, on a raw image, a first dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a first dynamic range and a second dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a second dynamic range wider than the first dynamic range;
• performing a second image adjustment on an image after the first dynamic range image adjustment or the second dynamic range image adjustment;
• and
• making a notification that readjustment of an adjustment parameter used in the second image adjustment is needed, in a case where the first dynamic range image adjustment and the second dynamic range image adjustment are switched and the readjustment is needed.

An image processing method comprising:

• switching and performing, on a raw image, a first dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a first dynamic range and a second dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a second dynamic range wider than the first dynamic range;
• and
• performing a second image adjustment on an image after the first dynamic range image adjustment or the second dynamic range image adjustment,
• wherein, in a case where switching between the first dynamic range image adjustment and the second dynamic range image adjustment is performed, the performing the second image adjustment uses, for the image after the first dynamic range image adjustment or the second dynamic range image adjustment, among a plurality of adjustment parameters used in the second image adjustment, an adjustment parameter that does not depend on a gamma characteristic, and does not use an adjustment parameter that depends on the gamma characteristic, and
• wherein the switching and performing the first dynamic range image adjustment and the second dynamic range image adjustment and the performing the second image adjustment are implemented via at least one processor.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute an image processing method, the image processing method comprising:

• switching and performing, on a raw image, a first dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a first dynamic range and a second dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a second dynamic range wider than the first dynamic range;
• performing a second image adjustment on an image after the first dynamic range image adjustment or the second dynamic range image adjustment;
• and
• making a notification that readjustment of an adjustment parameter used in the second image adjustment is needed, in a case where the first dynamic range image adjustment and the second dynamic range image adjustment are switched and the readjustment is needed.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for causing a computer to execute an image processing method, the image processing method comprising:

• switching and performing, on a raw image, a first dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a first dynamic range and a second dynamic range image adjustment suitable for a second dynamic range wider than the first dynamic range;
• and
• performing a second image adjustment on an image after the first dynamic range image adjustment or the second dynamic range image adjustment,
• wherein, in a case where switching between the first dynamic range image adjustment and the second dynamic range image adjustment is performed, the performing the second image adjustment uses, for the image after the first dynamic range image adjustment or the second dynamic range image adjustment, among a plurality of adjustment parameters used in the second image adjustment, an adjustment parameter that does not depend on a gamma characteristic, and does not use an adjustment parameter that depends on the gamma characteristic, and
• wherein the switching and performing the first dynamic range image adjustment and the second dynamic range image adjustment and the performing the second image adjustment are implemented via at least one processor.
