Image forming apparatus

An image forming apparatus comprising:

• an image forming unit including a photosensitive member and an optical scanning device having a transmission member that allows laser light that scans the photosensitive member to pass therethrough to outside the optical scanning device, the image forming unit configured to develop, using toner, an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive member by being scanned by the laser light and transfer a toner image obtained by developing the electrostatic latent image onto a recording medium, thereby forming an image on the recording medium;
• a cleaning mechanism configured to clean the transmission member;
• a counter configured to count the number of pages on which images are formed by the image forming unit;
• and
• a control unit configured to control the cleaning mechanism to clean the transmission member when the number of pages on which images are formed on storage media counted by the counter reaches a predetermined number of pages or a predetermined range including the predetermined number of pages,
• wherein, in a case where a total value of the number of pages on which images are to be formed specified by an input job and a count value of the counter before the number of pages on which images are to be formed according to the job is counted is included in the predetermined range including the predetermined number of pages, the control unit causes the cleaning mechanism to operate after formation of images according to the job is completed.

An image forming apparatus comprising:

• an image forming unit including a photosensitive member and an optical scanning device having a transmission member that allows laser light that scans the photosensitive member to pass therethrough to outside the optical scanning device, the image forming unit configured to develop, using toner, an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive member by being scanned by the laser light and transfer a toner image obtained by developing the electrostatic latent image onto a recording medium, thereby forming an image on the recording medium;
• a cleaning mechanism configured to clean the transmission member;
• and
• a control unit configured to cause the cleaning mechanism to operate and configured to set the number of cleaning setting images for causing the cleaning mechanism to operate according to the accumulated number of recording media on which images are formed by the image forming unit,
• wherein, in a case where a job for forming images on a plurality of recording media using the image forming unit is input, the control unit causes the cleaning mechanism to operate after the formation of images based on the job is completed if the accumulated number of formed images from when the control unit previously causes the cleaning mechanism to operate to when the formation of images on the plurality of recording media based on the job is completed exceeds a first number of images less than the number of cleaning setting images.

An image forming apparatus comprising:

• an image forming unit including a photosensitive member and an optical scanning device having a transmission member that allows laser light that scans the photosensitive member to pass therethrough to outside the optical scanning device, the image forming unit configured to develop, using toner, an electrostatic latent image formed on the photosensitive member by being scanned by the laser light and transfer a toner image obtained by developing the electrostatic latent image onto a recording medium, thereby forming an image on the recording medium;
• a cleaning mechanism configured to clean the transmission member;
• and
• a control unit configured to cause the cleaning mechanism to operate and configured to set a first number of cleaning setting images for causing the cleaning mechanism to operate according to the accumulated number of recording media on which images are formed by the image forming unit,
• wherein, in a case where a job for forming images on a plurality of recording media using the image forming unit is input, the control unit causes the cleaning mechanism to operate after the formation of images based on the job is completed if the accumulated number of formed images from when the control unit previously causes the cleaning mechanism to operate to when the formation of images on the plurality of recording media based on the job is completed is less than or equal to a second number of cleaning setting images greater than the first number of cleaning setting images.
