A component retention assembly fixed to an associated part and configured to be engaged with a bracket of a component, the component retention assembly comprising:
- a pair of cantilever prongs;
- and
- a clip,
- wherein the clip includes a hinge and an extension removably disposed between the pair of cantilever prongs when the clip is in a closed position, and
- a prong is disposed on an end of the extension opposite the hinge, the prong including a retaining face configured to engage the bracket and retain the clip in the closed position.
A component assembly comprising:
- a part;
- a component configured to be fixed to the part;
- and
- a retention assembly fixed to the part and engaging a bracket on the component to secure the component to the part, wherein the retention assembly includes
- a pair of cantilever prongs;
- and
- a clip,
- wherein the clip rotates about a hinge between an open position and a closed position,
- an extension on the clip is disposed between the pair of cantilever prongs when the clip is in a closed position, and
- a prong on the clip is disposed on an end of the extension opposite the hinge, the prong including a retaining face configured to engage the bracket and retain the clip in the closed position.
