Abstract
A method of imprinting a belt sheave without removal of an associated belt includes placing a first knurling wheel of a tool against a circumferentially extending section of a sheave not in contact with the belt. The sheave is then rotated to produce the imprints.
Claims20
A method of operating a sheave knurling tool comprising:
- placing the sheave knurling tool between two belt segments draping down from a sheave;
- mounting a body to a support structure of a drive unit coupled to the sheave;
- actuating a jack to move an arm pivotally engaged to the body;
- and
- bearing a knurling wheel coupled to the arm against an exposed surface section of a circumferentially continuous surface of the sheave.

A method of imprinting a belt sheave without removal of an associated belt, the method comprising:
- placing a first knurling wheel of a tool against a circumferentially extending section of a sheave not in contact with the belt;
- and
- rotating the sheave.
A method of imprinting a belt sheave rotationally engaged to a support structure, the method comprising:
- securing a jack of a tool to the support structure;
- actuating the jack causing the jack to pivot with respect to an arm of the tool about a first pivot axis and pivot the arm with respect to the body about a second pivot axis disposed parallel to the first pivot axis;
- biasing a first knurling wheel supported by the arm against the sheave upon actuation of the jack;
- and
- rotating the sheave to imprint the sheave.
