Abstract
Methods of preventing, inhibiting and/or decreasing protein deposits of a human amyloid protein and/or neuroinflammation in the central nervous system by reducing an amount of exposure to a pathogenic bacterial amyloid in the gastrointestinal tract are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods of preventing, inhibiting and/or treating a proteinopathy by reducing an amount of exposure to a pathogenic bacterial amyloid in the gastrointestinal tract.

A method of preventing, inhibiting and/or decreasing protein deposits of a human amyloid protein and/or neuroinflammation in the central nervous system by reducing an amount of exposure to a pathogenic bacterial amyloid in the gastrointestinal tract.
A method of preventing, inhibiting and/or treating a proteinopathy by reducing an amount of exposure to a pathogenic bacterial amyloid in the gastrointestinal tract.
The method of claim wherein the reduction in exposure is accomplished by administering a pharmaceutical preparation with an active agent that alters the interaction between the pathogenic bacterial amyloid and a human amyloidogenic protein such that nucleation of the aggregated form of the human amyloidogenic protein is inhibited, prevented and/or reversed.
