Abstract
The present disclosure relates generally to the use of medical devices for the treatment of vascular conditions. In particular, the present disclosure provides devices and methods for using laser-induced pressure waves created within a sheath to disrupt intimal and medial calcium within the vasculature. The present disclosure also provides treatment mode selection systems that may be used with such devices and methods.
Claims5
A system comprising:
- a sheath having a proximal end and a distal end and a lumen therein, the lumen being configured to translatably receive a device having a distal end;
- a handle coupled to the sheath;
- and
- a treatment mode selection system coupled to the handle, the treatment mode selection system comprising a user input being actuatable to configure the device from a first configuration to a second configuration and vice versa, in the first configuration the distal end of the device being disposed distally from the distal end of the sheath, and in the second configuration the distal end of the device being disposed proximally from the distal end of the sheath and within the lumen.
The system of claim 4, wherein the user input comprises a translatable button.
The system of claim 4, wherein the user input comprises a rotatable component.
A laser catheter system, comprising:
- a sheath having a proximal end and a distal end and a lumen therein;
- a laser catheter translatably disposed within the sheath, the laser catheter comprising:
- a proximal end configured to couple to a laser generator;
- a distal end;
- at least one emitter configured to couple to the laser generator,
- a handle coupled to the sheath and translatably coupled to the laser catheter;
- a treatment mode selection system coupled to the sheath, the treatment mode selection system comprising a user input being actuatable to configure the laser catheter system from a first configuration to a second configuration and vice versa, in the first configuration the distal end of the laser catheter being disposed distally from the distal end of the sheath, and in the second configuration the distal end of the laser catheter being disposed proximally from the distal end of the sheath and within the lumen and thereby creating a cavity between the distal end of the laser catheter and the distal end of the sheath.
