Abstract
Systems, devices, and methods for electroporation ablation therapy are disclosed, with the system including a pulse waveform signal generator for medical ablation therapy, and an endocardial ablation device includes at least one electrode for ablation pulse delivery to tissue. The signal generator may deliver voltage pulses to the ablation device in the form of a pulse waveform. The system may include a cardiac stimulator for generation of pacing signals and for sequenced delivery of pulse waveforms in synchrony with the pacing signal.

A method, comprising:
- advancing an ablation device into a chamber of a heart, the ablation device including:
- a catheter shaft defining a longitudinal axis and a shaft lumen therethrough;
- and
- a set of splines coupled to the catheter shaft, each spline of the set of splines including a set of electrodes formed on a surface of each spline of the set of splines;
- transitioning, after advancing the ablation device into the chamber, the ablation device from a first configuration in which a distal portion of each spline of the set of splines is disposed a first distance from a distal end of the catheter shaft to a second configuration in which the distal portion of each spline from the set of splines is disposed a second distance less than the first distance from the distal end of the catheter shaft;
- moving the ablation device to a first location near a first pulmonary vein of a set of pulmonary veins;
- delivering, when the ablation device is in the second configuration, an ablation pulse waveform to the ablation device such that the ablation device generates a pulsed electric field to ablate a region of tissue;
- moving, after delivering the ablation pulse waveform, the ablation device to a second location near a second pulmonary vein of the set of pulmonary veins;
- and
- transitioning the ablation device to a third configuration different from the first configuration and the second configuration.
A method, comprising:

- advancing the ablation device toward a pulmonary vein of a set of pulmonary veins;
- and
- delivering, when the ablation device is in the second configuration, an ablation pulse waveform to anode-cathode electrode sets according to a predetermined sequence, each anode-cathode electrode set including a first set of electrodes formed on a first subset of the splines configured as anodes and a second set of electrodes formed on a second subset of the splines configured as cathodes.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a catheter shaft defining a longitudinal axis and a shaft lumen therethrough;
- and
- a set of splines extending from a distal end of the shaft lumen, a distal portion of each spline of the set of splines extending distally from a distal end of the catheter shaft, each spline of the set of splines including a set of electrodes formed on a surface of that spline, the set of splines configured to transition between a first configuration in which the set of splines are arranged substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis and a second configuration in which each spline of the set of splines has a radius of curvature that decreases and subsequently increases along a length of that spline.
