Energy budget manager

A computer program product for managing energy consumption of electrical devices at a building, comprising:

• a physical non-transitory computer usable medium having computer readable program code embodied in the computer usable medium for causing an application program to execute on a computer processor in a computer system, the computer readable program code means comprising:
• computer readable program code for receiving data reflecting operator supplied configuration information for individual electrical devices at the building, the configuration information including an identification of each of the individual electrical devices and an identification number of a sensor associated with each of the individual electrical devices, the identification of each of the individual electrical devices comprising an identification of a model of the individual electrical device, each of the sensors measuring electrical usage of an associated one or more of the individual electrical devices;
• computer readable program code for accessing a data store and transforming data by creating a database of each of the individual electrical devices and associated sensors from the configuration information, said database being stored in said data store;
• computer readable program code for establishing an energy budget for a future period of time for the building;
• computer readable program code for repeatedly receiving and storing data reflecting the electrical usage of the individual electrical devices from the associated sensors;
• computer readable program code for repeatedly projecting future energy use at the building for the future time period based on the electrical usage of the individual electrical devices;
• computer readable program code for comparing the projected future energy use to the energy budget to determine if there is a deviation between the projected future energy use and the energy budget;
• and
• computer readable program code for sending an alert in response to a determination that the projected future energy use deviates from the energy budget.

A physical energy management system for managing energy consumption of electrical devices at a building, comprising:

• a data store;
• and
• a computer processor coupled to the data store and in communication with a source of data reflecting operator supplied configuration information for individual electrical devices at the building, the computer processor being programmed to:
• receive the data reflecting operator supplied configuration information for individual electrical devices at the building, the configuration information including an identification of each of the individual electrical devices and an identification number of a sensor associated with each of the individual electrical devices, the identification of each of the individual electrical devices comprising an identification of a model of the individual electrical device, each of the associated sensors measuring electrical usage of an associated one or more of the individual electrical devices;
• access the data store and transform data by creating a database of each of the individual electrical devices and associated sensors from the configuration information;
• establish an energy budget for a future period of time for the building;
• repeatedly receive and store data reflecting the electrical usage of the individual electrical devices from the associated sensors;
• project future energy use at the building for the future time period based on the electrical usage of the individual electrical devices;
• compare the projected future energy use to the energy budget to determine if there is a deviation between the projected future energy use and the energy budget;
• and
• send an alert in response to a determination that the projected future energy use deviates from the energy budget.
