Protective response to failed network attach operations

A machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

• determining a count of instances of a device failing to successfully attach to a network device of a wireless network;
• preventing a subsequent attempt after the instances occurred to attach the device to the network device via initiating a protective state in the device, wherein the initiating the protective state is based on determining that the count of instances has transitioned a threshold count;
• and
• in response to determining that the protective state is to be revoked, enabling the subsequent attempt to attach the device to the network device, wherein the determining that the protective state is to be revoked is based on an indicator selected from a group of indicators comprising an elapsed time indicator, a current time indicator, a device location indicator, a device movement indicator, an override signal indicator, a device power state indicator, a device radio power state indicator, and a device network attachment indicator.
