Abstract
A system and method includes a receiver configured to receive a communication signal from a transmitter. A motion determining unit connected with the receiver is configured to provide information about a motion of the receiver relative to the transmitter. An adaptive equalizer is connected with the receiver, the adaptive equalizer is configured to use the information about the motion to undo effects of time variation in the communication signal.
Claims30
A method for communicating information from a transmitter to a receiver, the method comprising:
- receiving, from the transmitter, via at least one channel, a communication signal comprising a succession of symbols;
- updating a state-space model of relative transmitter and receiver position and motion, using a recursive filter;
- estimating arrival times for each of the symbols of the communication signal based on the state-space model, and
- compensate time distortions in the communication signal based at least in part on the estimated arrival times.
A receiving system comprising:
- a receiver configured to receive, from a transmitter, via at least one channel, a communication signal comprising a succession of symbols;
- a recursive filter for updating a state-space model of relative transmitter and receiver position and motion;
- and
- an adaptive equalizer communicatively coupled to the receiver and configured
- to estimate arrival times for each of the symbols of the communication signal based on the state-space model, and
- to compensate time distortions in the communication signal based at least in part on the estimated arrival times.
A communication system comprising:
- a transmitter configured to transmit a communication signal comprising a succession of symbols;
- a receiver configured to receive the communication signal via at least one channel;
- a recursive filter for updating a state-space model of relative transmitter and receiver position and motion;
- and
- an adaptive equalizer communicatively coupled to the receiver and configured
- to estimate arrival times for each of the symbols of the communication signal based on the state-space model, and
- to compensate time distortions in the communication signal based at least in part on the estimated arrival times.
