Abstract
A battery case accommodates therein a battery cell that has a first main surface and a second main surface opposite the first main surface. The battery case includes a chassis with which the first main surface of the battery cell comes into contact, and a holding plate that comes into partial contact with the second main surface of the battery cell and presses against the battery cell.

- A battery case that accommodates therein a battery cell that has a first main surface and a second main surface opposite the first main surface, the battery case comprising:
- a chassis with which the first main surface of the battery cell comes into contact;
- and
- a holding plate that comes into contact with the second main surface of the battery cell only in an area subjected to high pressure according to a pressure distribution over a surface of the battery cell and presses against the battery cell.

- The battery case according to claim 1, wherein the holding plate includes a strip-like portion to cover a central portion of the second main surface of the battery cell in a band.

- The battery case according to claim 1, wherein the holding plate includes a relief portion on a surface between the second main surface and a side surface of the battery cell, the relief portion being configured such that the holding plate does not make contact at the relief portion.

- The battery case according to claim 1, wherein the holding plate has an opening in a surface between the second main surface and a side surface of the battery cell.

- The battery case according to claim 1, wherein
- the holding plate includes a step portion between an area facing the second main surface of the battery cell and an area facing a side surface of the battery cell, and
- the holding plate is brought into contact with an exterior casing of the battery cell at an edge of the step portion.

- The battery case according to claim 1, wherein a contact portion of the holding plate and an exterior casing of the battery cell includes two parallel linear areas on the second main surface of the battery cell.

- The battery case according to claim 7, wherein the holding plate includes, on the contact portion with the exterior casing of the battery cell, two linear projecting portions that are parallel on the second main surface of the battery cell.

- A battery module comprising:
- the battery case according to claim 1;
- and
- the battery cell having the first main surface and the second main surface, the first main surface being in contact with the chassis, the second man surface being opposite the first main surface and being in contact the holding plate.

- The battery module according to claim 9, wherein
- the two chassis are integrally formed such that a side of each of the chassis, on which the battery cell is installed, faces outward, and
- the battery cells are attached to the chassis such that the first main surfaces of the battery cells are parallel to each other.

- A battery module manufacturing method comprising:
- manufacturing a battery cell including an exterior casing having a first main surface and a second main surface opposite the first main surface, two electrode plates provided in the exterior casing, a current collector plate connected to the electrode plates, and a terminal electrode connected to the current collector plate;
- measuring a mechanical characteristic of the battery cell;
- determining a thickness of an adjustment plate in accordance with the mechanical characteristic;
- bringing the first main surface into contact with a chassis and securing the battery cell by securing the holding plate to the chassis with the adjustment plate therebetween and by pressing the holding plate against part of the second main surface of the exterior casing;
- measuring an amount of deformation of the holding plate;
- and
- determining whether a measurement value obtained in the measuring is within a predetermined range and adjusting a thickness of the adjustment plate so as to cause the measurement value to fall within the predetermined range.

- The battery case according to claim 1, wherein the holding plate includes a strip-like portion to cover the second main surface of the battery cell in a band.

- A battery case that accommodates therein a battery cell that has a first main surface and a second main surface opposite the first main surface, the battery case comprising:
- a chassis with which the first main surface of the battery cell comes into contact;
- and
- a holding plate that includes, on a contact portion with an exterior casing of the battery cell, two linear projecting portions being parallel on the second main surface of the battery cell, that comes into partial contact with the second main surface of the battery cell, and that presses against the battery cell.
