A device for a vehicle, the device comprising:
- a component for the vehicle;
- and
- an explosive module configured to, in response to a trigger signal, cause the component to fragment.
A method for fragmenting a component for a vehicle, the method comprising:
- registering a trigger signal that indicates an impact effect that is acting on the vehicle;
- and
- in response to the trigger signal being registered, inducing a fragmentation of the component using an explosive module.
