Abstract
In modern networks, RRU and BBU equipment of an access point site typically handles traffic from a single sector. An RRU-BBU pair process that traffic (often limited to a single spectrum from a single sector) according to implemented capabilities and other equipment located further upstream perform functions that rely on information from multiple sectors. An integrated device (e.g., white box) can integrate the functionality of multiple RRU (or NR in 5G) and the functionality of multiple BBU (or DU/CU splits in 5G), which can reduce implementation footprint, costs, and can provide related services more efficiently without going upstream.

A device, comprising:
- a client interface configured to interface to transceiver devices of an access point site;
- a network interface configured to interface to a network device of a wireless network;
- a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:
- receiving, via the client interface, analog radio signals, comprising:
- a first analog signal received from a first transceiver device of the transceiver devices;
- and
- a second analog signal received from a second transceiver device of the transceiver devices;
- transforming an analog signal, of the analog radio signals, to a digital signal comprising packets of data;
- and
- transmitting, via the network interface, an encapsulated packet representative of a packet of the packets that is encapsulated according to a protocol based on a type of the network device.
A machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising, comprising:
- receiving analog signals comprising a first analog signal received from a first transceiver device and a second analog signal received from a second transceiver device;
- converting the analog signals to respective digital signals;
- determining a type of a target device configured to receive the respective digital signals;
- encapsulating the respective digital signals according to a protocol based on the type of the target device, resulting in an encapsulated signal;
- and
- transmitting the encapsulated signal to the target device.
A method, comprising:
- facilitating, by a device comprising a processor, receiving analog signals comprising a first analog signal received from a first transceiver device and a second analog signal received from a second transceiver device;
- determining, by the device, a type associated with the analog signals;
- transforming, by the device, the analog signals to digital signals formatted according to a first protocol that is selected based on the type;
- and
- in response to an encapsulation procedure performed on the digital signals, generating, by the device, encapsulated signals formatted according to a second protocol that is determined based on the type.
