System and Method for Providing Image-Based Video Service

A method comprising:

• storing one or more records, wherein each of the one or more records associates a network location of an image with video information related to the image;
• receiving, from a client device, image-related data that includes a first network location associated with a first image;
• searching the cache for a record that matches the first network location;
• if a matching record is found, communicating video information associated with the matching record to the client device;
• and
• if a matching record is not found:
• receiving, from the first network location, the first image;
• extracting a fingerprint from the first image;
• determining video information associated with the fingerprint;
• and
• communicating the determined video information to the client device.

A server comprising:

• a first subsystem configured to:
• receive, from a client device, image-related data that includes a first network location associated with a first image;
• and
• receive, from the first network location, the first image;
• and
• a second subsystem configured to:
• extract a fingerprint from the first image;
• determine video information associated with the fingerprint;
• and
• communicate the determined video information to the client device.
