Abstract
Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with managing instances of services are described. In one embodiment, a method includes constructing pre-provisioned instances of a service within a first pool and constructing pre-orchestrated instances of the service within a second pool. In response to receiving a request for the service, the method executes executable code of a first pre-orchestrated instance as an executing instance and removing the pre-orchestrated instance from the second pool. A pre-provisioned instance is selected from the first pool to create a second pre-orchestrated instance within the second pool, and the pre-provisioned instance is removed from the first pool.
Claims20
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable instructions that when executed by a processor of a computing device causes the processor to:
- construct pre-provisioned instances of a service within a first pool of a zone of computing resources, wherein the service executes executable code using the computing resources, and wherein each pre-provisioned instance comprises a computing environment of computing resources configured for subsequent installation and execution of the executable code of the service;
- construct pre-orchestrated instances of the service within a second pool, wherein each pre-orchestrated instance comprises a computing environment within which the executable code of the service is installed in a non-executing state;
- in response to receiving a request for the service:
- execute the executable code of a first pre-orchestrated instance as an executing instance of the service for remote access over a network by a remote device;
- remove the pre-orchestrated instance from the second pool;
- select a pre-provisioned instance from the first pool and create a second pre-orchestrated instance within the second pool by installing the executable code into the pre-provisioned instance, wherein the executable code is in the non-executing state;
- and
- remove the pre-provisioned instance from the first pool.
A computing system, comprising:
- a processor connected to memory;
- and
- a management module stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium and configured with instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to:
- construct pre-provisioned instances of a service within a first pool of a zone of computing resources, wherein the service executes executable code using the computing resources, and wherein each pre-provisioned instance comprises a computing environment of computing resources configured for subsequent installation and execution of the executable code of the service;
- construct pre-orchestrated instances of the service within a second pool, wherein each pre-orchestrated instance comprises a computing environment within which the executable code of the service is installed in a non-executing state;
- and
- in response to receiving a request for the service:
- execute the executable code of a first pre-orchestrated instance as an executing instance of the service for remote access over a network by a remote device;
- remove the pre-orchestrated instance from the second pool;
- orchestrate a pre-provisioned instance from the first pool to create a second pre-orchestrated instance within the second pool by installing the executable code into the pre-provisioned instance, wherein the executable code is in the non-executing state;
- and
- remove the pre-provisioned instance from the first pool.
A computer-implemented method, the computer-implemented method involving a computing device comprising a processor, and the computer-implemented method comprising:
- constructing, by the processor, pre-provisioned instances of a service within a first pool of a zone of computing resources, wherein the service executes executable code using the computing resources, and wherein each pre-provisioned instance comprises a computing environment of computing resources configured for subsequent installation and execution of the executable code of the service;
- constructing, by the processor, pre-orchestrated instances of the service within a second pool of the zone, wherein each pre-orchestrated instance comprises an pre-orchestrated computing environment within which the executable code of the service is installed in a non-executing state;
- and
- in response to receiving a request for the service:
- executing, by the processor, the executable code of a first pre-orchestrated instance from the second pool as an executing instance of the service for remote access over a network by a remote device;
- removing, by the processor, the pre-orchestrated instance from the second pool;
- orchestrating, by the processor, a pre-provisioned instance selected from the first pool to create a second pre-orchestrated instance within the second pool by installing the executable code into the pre-provisioned instance, wherein the executable code is in the non-executing state;
- and
- removing, by the processor, the pre-provisioned instance from the first pool.
