Abstract
A point-of-sale terminal is provided. The point-of-sale terminal includes a processor and a memory configured to store transaction data therein. The point-of-sale terminal further includes a network interface configured to connect to a computing network. The network interface is further configured to receive, from the network, a message comprising blockchain information. The point-of-sale terminal is configured to store the transaction data in a blockchain ledger.
Claims18
A point-of-sale terminal, comprising:
- a processor and a memory configured to store transaction data therein;
- a network interface configured to connect to a computing network and configured to receive, from the network, a message comprising blockchain information;
- wherein the point-of-sale terminal is configured to store the transaction data in a blockchain ledger, and
- wherein the transaction data includes sales data related to one or more point-of-sale transactions conducted at the point-of sale terminal or another point-of-sale terminal, and
- wherein the transaction data further includes drawer session information comprising at least one of a time of a drawer open, an amount, a tender type, or employee or franchisee information, the drawer session information relating to at least one drawer session in which the one or more point-of-sale transactions is conducted at the point-of sale terminal or the another point-of-sale terminal.
A non-transitory computer readable medium configured to store instructions which, when executed, cause a processor to perform:
- communicating with at least one point-of-sale terminal remotely connected to the processor;
- receiving, from the at least one point-of-sale terminal, a message comprising a unique identifier for a blockchain;
- authenticating the message received from the at least one point-of-sale terminal and recording transaction information in a blockchain ledger, and
- linking transaction information relating to a first transaction at a first point-of-sale terminal with transaction information relating to a second transaction at the first point-of-sale terminal or a second point-of-sale terminal, such that the blockchain ledger includes transaction information relating to the first transaction and the second transaction;
- wherein the first and second point-of-sale terminals are provided at different locations within a facility.
A non-transitory computer readable medium configured to store instructions which, when executed, cause a processor to perform:
- communicating with at least one point-of-sale terminal remotely connected to the processor;
- receiving, from the at least one point-of-sale terminal, a message comprising a unique identifier for a blockchain;
- authenticating the message received from the at least one point-of-sale terminal and recording transaction information in a blockchain ledger;
- synchronizing transaction data between a local cache on the at least one point-of-sale terminal and a remote memory accessible via a cloud computing network, and
- sharing transaction data between the at least one point-of-sale terminal and a second point-of-sale terminal via the remote memory and the cloud computing network.
(canceled)
A point-of-sale system, comprising:
- a first database configured to store a plurality of transaction entries in a blockchain, wherein the entries include at least a transaction identifier and a record of a transaction received from one of a plurality of point-of-sale terminals;
- and
- a processor configured to
- create a block including drawer session information comprising at least one of a time of a drawer open, an amount, a tender type, or employee or franchisee information, the drawer session information relating to at least one drawer session in which one or more point-of-sale transactions is conducted at one or more of the plurality of point-of-sale terminals;
- receive a transaction message comprising a plurality of message components including unique blockchain information, the message components including at least one of a transaction volume for the drawer session or a length of the drawer session;
- and
- identify information stored in the first database and cause a record to be created, the record including data relating to the transaction message and the transaction.
