Information processing apparatus, method for controlling information processing apparatus, and storage medium

A method for controlling an information processing apparatus comprising a device driver commonly usable for a plurality of peripheral apparatuses, the method comprising:

• acquiring second definition information that is definition information for information acquisition specific to any peripheral apparatus of the plurality of peripheral apparatuses, using first definition information that is definition information for information acquisition commonly usable for the plurality of peripheral apparatuses;
• acquiring, from the any peripheral apparatus, configuration information specific to the any peripheral apparatus, using the second definition information acquired;
• and
• storing the second definition information acquired in a storage area for each of the peripheral apparatuses used by the device driver.

A non-transitory storage medium comprising a program including computer-executable instructions, which when executed by one or more processors of an information processing apparatus, cause the information processing apparatus to perform a method for controlling an information processing apparatus comprising a device driver commonly usable for a plurality of peripheral apparatuses, the method comprising:

• acquiring second definition information that is definition information for information acquisition specific to any peripheral apparatus of the plurality of peripheral apparatuses, using first definition information that is definition information for information acquisition commonly usable for the plurality of peripheral apparatuses;
• acquiring, from the any peripheral apparatus, configuration information specific to the any peripheral apparatus, using the second definition information acquired;
• and
• storing the second definition information acquired in a storage area for each of the peripheral apparatuses used by the device driver.
