Provided are a hexuronate C4-epimerase variant with improved activity in converting D-fructose by D-tagatose of hexuronate C4-epimerase and a method for production of D-tagatose using them.

A hexuronate C4-epimerase variant in which serine (S) as an amino acid residue at position 185 from the N-terminus of a hexuronate C4-epimerase consisting of the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:
