A liquid-crystalline medium, comprising one or more compounds of formula EY

• one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of the compounds of formulae IA and IB
• and/or one or more compounds selected from the group consisting of the compounds of formulae BF-1, BF-2, BS-1 and BS-2:

• R1, R1*,
• R1A, R1B and RB denote, each independently, H, an alkyl or alkenyl radical having up to 15 C atoms, which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted by CN or CF3 or at least monosubstituted by halogen, in which one or more CH2 groups may be replaced by —O—, —S—,
• —C≡C—, —CF2O—, —OCF2—, —OC—O— or —O—CO— in such a way that O atoms are not linked directly to one another,
• on each occurrence, identically or differently, denotes,
• L1, L2, independently of one another, denote F or Cl,
• L3, L4 in each case, independently of one another, denote F, Cl, CF3 or CHF2,
• L5 denotes H or methyl,
• alkyl denotes a straight-chain alkyl adical having 1 to 6 C atoms,
• Z2A and Z2B in each case, independently of one another, denote —CH2CH2—, —CH═CH—, —CF2O—, —OCF2—, —CH2O—, —O CH2—, —COO—, —OCO—, —C2F4—, —CF═CF— or —CH═CHCH2O—,
• (O) denotes O or a single bond,
• p denotes 1 or 2,
• q denotes 0 or 1,
• c denotes 0, 1 or 2, and
• d denotes 1 or 2.
