## Abstract

Sharing video footage recorded by audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices, such as video doorbells and security cameras. When an A/V recording and communication device records video footage of suspicious activity, or even criminal activity, a user viewing the footage may alert his or her neighbors by sharing the video. In various embodiments, the user may share the video with anyone of the user's choosing, including neighbors, friends, and family.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for sharing recorded video footage from an audio/video recording and communication device (A/V device), the method comprising:
receiving, by a client device, video footage recorded by a camera of the A/V device;
displaying, on a display of the client device, at least a portion of the recorded video footage;
displaying, on the display of the client device, a neighborhood share button that allows a user associated with the client device to share the recorded video footage with one or more other users;
determining that the neighborhood share button has been selected; and
in response to the neighborhood share button being selected, transmitting a share signal to a network, wherein the share signal enables the network to identify the one or more other users who will be notified of the shared recorded video footage.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 further comprising, displaying, on the display of the client device, share information that indicates that the recorded video footage will be shared with the one or more other users.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the share information includes a still image from the recorded video footage.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the share information includes a notice that the recorded video footage will be shared along with a location where the recorded video footage was recorded.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The method of claim 2, wherein the share information includes a text entry box.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5 further comprising receiving text data that describes the recorded video footage.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The method of claim 6, wherein the share signal includes the text data that describes the content of the recorded video footage.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 further comprising displaying, on the display of the client device, a confirmation that the recorded video footage has been shared.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 further comprising, displaying, on the display of the client device, after determining that the neighborhood share button has been selected, a message providing an option to unshare the recorded video footage.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the network identifies the one or more other users who will be notified of the shared recorded video footage by determining that the A/V device is within a predefined distance set by the one or more other users.

### Claim 11

A computer program application for sharing recorded video footage from an audio/video recording and communication device (A/V device) associated with a first user, the computer program application being embodied in code executable by a processor of a client device, which when executed causes the client device to:
receive video footage recorded by a camera of the A/V device;
display, on a display of the client device, at least a portion of the recorded video footage;
display, on the display of the client device, a neighborhood share button that allows the first user to share the recorded video footage with at least one social network;
determine that the neighborhood share button has been selected; and
in response to the neighborhood share button being selected, transmit a share signal to the at least one social network, the share signal including information to enable the at least one social network to provide the shared recorded video footage to one or more users of the at least one social network.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The computer program application of claim 11, wherein the computer program application is embodied in further code that, when executed by the processor, further causes the client device to display, on the display of the client device, share information that indicates that the recorded video footage will be shared with the at least one social network.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The computer program application of claim 12, wherein the share information includes a still image from the recorded video footage.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The computer program application of claim 12, wherein the share information includes a notice that the recorded video footage will be shared along with a location where the recorded video footage was recorded.

### Claim 15 (depends on 12)

The computer program application of claim 12, wherein the share information includes a text entry box.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The computer program application of claim 15, wherein the computer program application is embodied in further code that, when executed by the processor, further causes the client device to receive text data that describes the recorded video footage.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The computer program application of claim 16, wherein the share signal includes the text data that describes the content of the recorded video footage.

### Claim 18 (depends on 11)

The computer program application of claim 11, wherein the computer program application is embodied in further code that, when executed by the processor, further causes the client device to display, on the display of the client device, a confirmation that the recorded video footage has been shared.

### Claim 19 (depends on 11)

The computer program application of claim 11, wherein the computer program application is embodied in further code that, when executed by the processor, further causes the client device to display, on the display of the client device, after determining that the neighborhood share button has been selected, an option to unshare the recorded video footage.

### Claim 20 (depends on 11)

The computer program application of claim 11, wherein the one or more users of the at least one social network are located in a same neighborhood as the first user.
