Abstract
A printing system in which a client device utilizing a web browser and a printer, that provides a share folder, are communicably connected, displays a screen on which a print file can be specified by a drop operation on the web browser, transmits the specified print file and share-folder specification information from the client device to the printer, and prints the print file using print settings linked to the share folder.
Claims20
An image forming system in which an information processing apparatus utilizing a web browser and an image forming apparatus that provides a folder accessible from the information processing apparatus are communicably connected, the system comprising:
- an operation unit configured to transmit screen information from the information processing apparatus to the image forming apparatus;
- an application unit, in the web browser of the information processing apparatus, configured to output a specification screen on which a print file can be specified by a drop operation based on the transmitted screen information;
- a transfer unit configured to transmit the print file specified by the web browser and folder specification information from the information processing apparatus to the image forming apparatus;
- and
- a printing unit, in the image forming apparatus, configured to print the specified print file using print settings linked to the folder specified by the specification information.
An image forming apparatus that is communicable with an information processing apparatus, utilizing a web browser, and that provides a folder accessible from the information processing apparatus, the image forming apparatus comprising:
- an image forming device configured to execute print processing for forming an image on a sheet;
- a server unit configured to output screen information, on which a specification screen is based, to the web browser to output the specification screen on which a print file is specified by a drop operation;
- a data acquisition unit configured to obtain the print file specified. by the drop operation in the web browser and folder specification information;
- and
- a control unit configured to control the image forming device to execute print processing based on print settings linked to the folder indicated by the specification information and the specified print file.
A method for controlling an image forming apparatus that is communicable with an information processing apparatus utilizing a web browser, and that provides a folder accessible from the information processing apparatus, the image forming apparatus comprising an image forming device configured to execute print processing for forming an image on a sheet, the method comprising the steps of:
- outputting screen information, on which a specification screen is based, to the web browser to output the specification screen on which a print file is specified by a drop operation;
- obtaining the print file specified by the drop operation in the web browser and folder specification information;
- and
- controlling the image forming device to execute print processing based on print settings linked to the folder indicated by the specification information and the specified print file.
An information processing apparatus that is communicable with an image forming apparatus configured to execute print processing for forming an image on a sheet, the information processing apparatus comprising:
- an application unit configured to obtain screen information from the image forming apparatus;
- a control unit configured to output a specification screen on which a print file can be specified by a drop operation based on the screen information using a web browser;
- and
- a print request unit configured to transmit the print file specified on the specification screen and specification information on the folder to which print settings for use in print processing are linked to the image forming apparatus so as to cause the image forming apparatus to execute the print processing based on the specified print file.
An image forming apparatus that is communicable with an information processing apparatus utilizing a web browser, and that provides a folder accessible from the information processing apparatus, the image forming apparatus comprising:
- an image forming device configured to execute print processing for forming an image on a sheet;
- a server unit configured to output screen information on a specification screen on which a print file can be specified so as to cause the web browser to output the specification screen;
- a data acquisition unit configured to obtain the print file specified by the web browser and folder specification information;
- and
- a control unit configured to cause the image forming device to execute print processing based on print settings linked to the folder indicated by the specification information and the specified print file.
An image forming system in which an information processing apparatus utilizing a web browser and an image forming apparatus that provides a folder accessible from the information processing apparatus are communicably connected, the system comprising:
- a server unit configured to transmit screen information from the image forming apparatus to the information processing apparatus;
- an application unit, in the web browser of the information processing apparatus, configured to output a specification screen on which a print file can be specified based on the screen information;
- a print request unit configured to transmit the print file specified by the web browser and folder specification information from the information processing apparatus to the image forming apparatus;
- and
- a control unit, in the image forming apparatus, configured to print the specified print file using print settings linked to the folder specified by the specification information.
