## CPC

- H04W 72/21: in the uplink direction of a wireless link, i.e. towards the network
- H04W 28/0278: {using buffer status reports (dynamic wireless traffic scheduling definition H04W72/12)}
- H04W 72/23: in the downlink direction of a wireless link, i.e. towards a terminal
- H04W: WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS (broadcast communication H04H; communication systems using wireless links for non-selective communication, e.g. wireless extensions H04M1/72)

## Abstract

Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for supporting or providing wireless backhauling are provided.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method, comprising:
transmitting, by a network node, to a serving node a scheduling request or other corresponding message based on buffer status and a predicted amount of data to be received by the network node.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method as in claim 1, wherein the predicted amount of data is based on resource grants sent to a user equipment or relay nodes served by the network node.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method as in claim 1, wherein the predicted amount of data is based on buffer status received from a user equipment or relay nodes served by the network node.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method as in claim 1, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message is sent to the serving node before receiving data from the user equipment or relay nodes served by the network node.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method as in claim 1, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message is transmitted using an upstream control channel or transmitted as a control information.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method as in claim 1, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message indicates receive time of uplink data scheduled by the network node.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method as in claim 1, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message is triggered when transmitting uplink scheduling grant to the user equipment or relay nodes served by the network node.

### Claim 8

An apparatus comprising:
at least one processor; and
at least one memory comprising computer program code,
the at least one memory and computer program code configured, with the at least one processor, to cause the apparatus at least to:
transmit, by the apparatus, to a serving node a scheduling request or other corresponding message based on buffer status and a predicted amount of data to be received by the apparatus.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The apparatus as in claim 8, wherein the predicted amount of data is based on resource grants sent to a user equipment or relay nodes served by the apparatus.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The apparatus as in claim 8, wherein the predicted amount of data is based on buffer status received from a user equipment or relay nodes served by the apparatus.

### Claim 11 (depends on 8)

The apparatus as in claim 8, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message is sent to the serving node before receiving data from the user equipment or relay nodes served by the apparatus.

### Claim 12 (depends on 8)

The apparatus as in claim 8, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message is transmitted using an upstream control channel or transmitted as a control information.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)

The apparatus as in claim 8, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message indicates receive time of uplink data scheduled by the apparatus.

### Claim 14 (depends on 8)

The apparatus as in claim 8, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message is triggered when transmitting uplink scheduling grant to the user equipment or relay nodes served by the apparatus.

### Claim 15

A computer program product comprising at least one computer-readable storage medium having executable computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:
a program code portion configured to transmit, by the computer program product, to a serving node a scheduling request or other corresponding message based on buffer status and a predicted amount of data to be received by the computer program product.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the predicted amount of data is based on resource grants sent to a user equipment or relay nodes served by the computer program product.

### Claim 17 (depends on 15)

The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the predicted amount of data is based on buffer status received from a user equipment or relay nodes served by the computer program product.

### Claim 18 (depends on 15)

The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message is sent to the serving node before receiving data from the user equipment or relay nodes served by the computer program product.

### Claim 19 (depends on 15)

The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message is transmitted using an upstream control channel or transmitted as a control information.

### Claim 20 (depends on 15)

The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the scheduling request or other corresponding message indicates receive time of uplink data scheduled by the computer program product.
