Method for manufacturing hub unit

A method for manufacturing a hub unit comprising:

• a) preparing a hub unit intermediate, the hub unit intermediate comprising an inner shaft, an inner ring fixed to an axial end of the inner shaft, and an outer ring rotatably arranged with respect to the inner shaft and the inner ring;
• b) preparing a magnetic seal member, the magnetic seal member comprising a seal member having an annular surface extending in a radial direction perpendicular to an axial direction when the seal member is arranged to be coaxial with a central axis of the inner shaft, and an annular magnetic member arranged on the annular surface and having no magnetic pole;
• c) arranging the magnetic seal member in a gap formed between the inner ring and the outer ring of the hub unit intermediate;
• d) forming a plurality of splines extending along the axial direction of the inner shaft on an inner circumferential surface of the inner shaft by cutting the inner circumferential surface of the inner shaft of the hub unit intermediate in which the magnetic seal member has been arranged;
• and
• e) forming a plurality of magnetic poles in a circumferential direction of the magnetic member of the hub unit intermediate in which the plurality of splines have been formed.
