Abstract
Sensor devices and systems for monitoring the basic needs of an infant comprising feeding, sleeping, and/or voiding (urinating and/or defecating) are described herein.
Claims31
A system for monitoring the basic needs of an infant;
- the system comprising:
- a. a data gathering module comprising a multi-use sensor device comprising a sensor housing, two or more sensors disposed on or within the sensor housing, a transmitter disposed on or within the sensor housing, and a battery disposed within the sensor housing, the sensor housing capable of being associated with and disassociated from a disposable absorbent article;
- b. information on how to associate the sensor housing with a disposable absorbent article;
- and
- c. a communication module comprising a software application that enables information related to voiding, and feeding and/or sleeping to be communicated to a caregiver via a computer device based on data comprising that from the two or more sensors;
- d. wherein the information related to feeding and/or sleeping is derived from one of the two or more sensors.

A system for monitoring the basic needs of an infant;
- the system comprising:
- a. a plurality of disposable absorbent articles;
- b. a sensor device comprising a sensor housing, a wetness sensor disposed on or within the sensor housing, a motion sensor disposed on or within the sensor housing, a transmitter disposed on or within the sensor housing, and a battery disposed within the sensor housing, the sensor housing capable of being associated with and disassociated from each of the plurality of disposable absorbent articles;
- and
- c. a camera.

A system for monitoring the basic needs of an infant;
- the system comprising:
- a. a data gathering system comprising a sensor device comprising a sensor housing, three or more sensors, a transmitter, and a battery;
- b. wherein the sensor device is sized large enough so as to not fit entirely within the cylinder test apparatus defined in United States 16 Code of Federal Regulation 1501.4;
- and
- c. wherein the three or more sensors, the transmitter, and the battery attach to disposable absorbent articles within an absorbent article area of 25 cm2 or less.
2 more elements
A sensor device for monitoring the basic needs of an infant;
- the sensor comprising:
- a. a sensor housing configured for association with a disposable absorbent article;
- b. at least one sensor disposed within the sensor housing;
- c. a power source disposed within the sensor housing;
- d. a data transmitter disposed within the sensor housing;
- and
- e. a data processor disposed within the sensor housing, the data processor capable of processing raw data from the at least one sensor to reduce the amount of consumer-targeted data to be transmitted by the transmitter and the amount of power required by the power source so as to manage the amount of electromagnetic radiation emission.
4 more elements
A sensor device for monitoring the basic needs of an infant;
- the sensor comprising:
- a. a sensor housing configured for association with a disposable absorbent article;
- b. at least one sensor disposed within the sensor housing;
- c. a data transmitter disposed within the sensor housing;
- and
- d. a flash memory disposed within the sensor housing, the flash memory capable of temporarily storing consumer-targeted data when the data transmitter is not in wireless communication with a data receiving device.
