Abstract
An occlusive system for the vasculature and an embolic coil used in such an occlusive system is described. Also described is an occlusive plug which can be used for occlusive purposes within the vasculature.
Claims20
A vascular occlusion device to occlude a treatment site comprising:
- an outer tube;
- an inner tube positioned within and extending beyond the outer tube;
- a mesh structure attached distally to the inner tube and proximally to the outer tube;
- where the inner tube can be pushed or pulled independently of the outer tube to control a radial shape of the mesh structure;
- and
- wherein the inner tube is lockable relative to the outer tube, to thereby fix the radial shape of the mesh structure.
3 more elements
A vascular occlusion system to occlude a treatment site comprising:
- an outer tube;
- an inner tube positioned within and extending beyond the outer tube, the inner tube having a lumen allowing passage of material through the inner tube and into the treatment site;
- a mesh structure attached distally to the inner tube and proximally to the outer tube;
- where the inner tube can be pushed or pulled independently of the outer tube to radially expand the mesh structure;
- and
- a locking mechanism to fix a radially expansile shape of the mesh structure, to thereby retain the material within the treatment site.
3 more elements
A method of occluding a vascular treatment site, comprising:
- pulling an inner tube proximally relative to an outer tube so that a distal mesh structure radially expands at a neck of the vascular treatment site;
- tightening a fitting at a proximal end of a hemostatic valve to lock the inner tube in place relative to the outer tube, thereby fixing the distal mesh structure in a radially expansile shape;
- pushing material through the inner tube so that it exits from the distal end of the inner tube, and into the vascular treatment site.
