Abstract
A speculum, comprising a handle portion including a proximal end, a distal end and at least one sidewall connecting the proximal end and the distal end and having a cavity in the sidewall thereof, a lower blade connected to the handle portion, an upper blade movably connected to the lower blade, the upper and lower blades being configured to move relative to one another between a closed state and an open state, and a lighting assembly comprising at least one light source and at least one energy storage device, said lighting assembly being at least partially disposed in the cavity in the sidewall of the handle portion.
Claims26
A speculum, comprising:
- a handle portion including a proximal end, a distal end and at least one sidewall connecting the proximal end and the distal end and having a cavity in the sidewall thereof;
- a lower blade connected to the handle portion;
- an upper blade movably connected to the lower blade, the upper and lower blades being configured to move relative to one another between a closed state and an open state;
- and
- a lighting assembly comprising at least one light source and at least one energy storage device, said lighting assembly being at least partially disposed in the cavity in the sidewall of the handle portion.
A speculum comprising:
- a lower member including a handle and a lower blade;
- an upper blade movable relative to the lower member between an open state and a closed state;
- a lighting assembly comprising at least one light source, at least one power source and a removable tab,
- wherein the lighting assembly further includes a housing at least partially enclosing the at least one power source, and the handle is configured to at least partially enclose the housing, and
- wherein the removable tab extends from the housing and the lighting assembly is configured to energize the at least one light source when the removable tab is removed.
A medical device for retracting tissue, comprising:
- a handle including a proximal end, a distal end and at least one sidewall connecting the proximal end and the distal end and having a cavity in the sidewall thereof;
- a blade extending at an angle from the proximal end of the handle;
- a lighting assembly comprising at least one light source,
- wherein said lighting assembly is at least partially disposed within the cavity in the sidewall of the handle.
A medical device for retracting tissue, comprising:
- a handle including a proximal end and a distal end;
- a blade extending at an angle from the proximal end of the handle;
- a lighting assembly comprising at least one light source and a removable tab,
- wherein the removable tab extends from the handle portion, and
- wherein the lighting assembly is configured to energize at least one light source when the removable tab is removed.
