## Abstract

An at least one spherical valve stem seat and a method for manufacturing the at least one spherical valve stem seat. The at least one spherical valve stem seat has a finished valve stem seat blank and a shell in retained communication therewith. The method for manufacturing the at least one spherical valve stem seat includes a molding process and an accompanying sintering, and machining process.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A valve stem seat comprising:
a blank and a shell in molded communication;
said blank having a first section, a second section, a base assembly, and an extension;
said base assembly having a first side and a second side opposite said first side, wherein said extension in communication with said first side;
said first section in communication with said second side;
said second section having a second section base;
said second section base in communication with said first section, opposite said second side, wherein said communication provides for a lip;
said shell having a shell first side and a shell second side, wherein said shell second side having a hemispherical geometry defining said valve stem seat; and
said shell first side providing for a shelf, wherein communication of said lip and said shelf retains said shell in communication with said blank.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The valve stem seat of claim 1, further comprising said base assembly having an arched perimeter, wherein said arched perimeter extending opposite said extension.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The valve stem seat of claim 2, further comprising said arched perimeter defined by a terminal edge, wherein said terminal edge and said shell communicate to provide a profile finish.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The valve stem seat of claim 1, further comprising said first section having a cylindrical shape.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The valve stem seat of claim 1, further comprising said second section having said second section base in communication with a second section hemisphere, wherein said second section hemisphere is in communication with said shell first side.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The valve stem seat of claim 1, further comprising said extension having a first end, a second end and a length separating said first end and said second end.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The valve stem seat of claim 6, wherein said first end is affixed to said first side.

### Claim 8 (depends on 6)

The valve stem seat of claim 6, wherein said second end provides for a bore.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The valve stem seat of claim 8, further comprising said bore having a bore first end in communication with said second end.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The valve stem seat of claim 1, further comprising said first section having a first section first side opposite a first section second side, wherein said first section first side is in communication with said second side and said first section second side is in communication with said second section.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The valve stem seat of claim 1, further comprising said first section having a first diameter and said second section base having a second diameter, wherein a difference in said first diameter and said second diameter provides for said lip.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The valve stem seat of claim 1, further comprising said shell first side having a negative geometry, wherein said shell first side is in substantial communication with at least one of said first section and said second section.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The valve stem seat of claim 12, wherein said negative geometry provides for said shelf.

### Claim 14

A method of manufacturing a valve stem seat comprising:
positioning a first punch assembly in close proximity to a second punch assembly, wherein said second punch assembly comprises a punch and a collar;
placing a blank on said punch;
lowering said punch to a second position,
wherein a relationship of said collar to said punch provides for a cavity;
inserting resin into said cavity;
lowering said first punch assembly, wherein said first punch assembly is in close proximity to said punch, wherein a shell is formed creating a stem seat head;
removing said valve stem seat from said punch;
sintering said valve stem seat, wherein a first dimension of a stem seat head is reduced to a second dimension; and
machining a base assembly of said blank and said shell of said stem seat head, wherein an intersection of said base assembly and said shell provides for a profile finish.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14, further comprising said punch having a punch perimeter, wherein said collar in communication with said punch perimeter.

### Claim 16 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14 wherein, said resin is PTFE.

### Claim 17 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14 further comprising, said first punch assembly having a hemispherical cross-section on a first punch first side, wherein said hemispherical cross-section provides for formation of said first dimension.

### Claim 18 (depends on 14)

The method of claim 14 wherein, wherein said machining further comprises turning a chamfer on said second dimension.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The method of claim 18 further comprising rolling said base assembly over said chamfer.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The method of claim 19 further comprising, removing a material to create said profile finish.
