## Abstract

An X-ray dental imaging system for medical imaging includes a column, an upper shelf coupled to the column, a rotating part rotatably coupled to the upper shelf, and a chair spaced from the column.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An X-ray dental imaging system for medical imaging, the X-ray imaging system comprising:
a column;
an upper shelf coupled to the column;
a rotating part rotatably coupled to the upper shelf; and
a chair spaced from the column.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, wherein the upper shelf is rotatably coupled to the column about a first rotational axis to position the rotating part in at least a first position about an object and at least a second position about the object.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 2, wherein the rotating part is adjustable from the first position when a patient is sitting on the chair to the second position when the patient is standing at a location spaced from the chair.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 3, wherein the rotating part is movable linearly relative to the upper shelf along a rail of the upper shelf.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 3, further comprising a motor that rotates the upper shelf, and a controller, wherein the controller is configured to determine a distance between the chair and the column, and to signal the motor to rotate the upper shelf until the rotating part is in the first position.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 2, wherein the rotating part is rotatably coupled to the upper shelf about a second rotational axis spaced from the first rotational axis.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, wherein the chair includes a stem and a seat coupled to the stem, the seat having a first surface to support upper legs of a patient and a second surface to support a back of the patient.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, further comprising a frame, wherein a portion of the column is rigidly fixed to the frame, and wherein a portion of the chair is rigidly fixed to the frame.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, wherein at least a portion of the chair is adjustable vertically so as to be raised and lowered.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, wherein the chair is movable linearly along a rail to adjust a distance between the chair and the column.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, further comprising a support wall having a first end and a second, opposite end, wherein the column extends from the first end of the support wall and the chair extends from the second, opposite end of the support wall.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 11, wherein the support wall includes an arcuate surface.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, wherein the rotating part includes both an X-ray source and a detector unit, wherein the X-ray source and the detector unit provide data for at least one of a panoramic, computed tomography, or cephalometric image.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 13, further comprising a cephalometric arm coupled to the housing, and a cephalometric collimator coupled to one side of the rotating part, wherein the X-ray source is a first X-ray source, and wherein a second X-ray source is coupled to the second cephalometric arm for cephalometric imaging.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, wherein the upper shelf is adjustable linearly along a length of the column.

### Claim 16 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, further comprising a frame coupled to both the column and the chair, wherein the column is rigidly fixed to the frame, wherein the upper shelf is rotatably coupled to the column about a first rotational axis, and the upper shelf is adjustable linearly along a length of the column, wherein the rotating part is rotatably coupled to the upper shelf about a second rotational axis spaced from the first rotational axis, wherein the rotating part includes both an X-ray source and a detector unit, wherein the X-ray source and the detector unit provide data for at least one of a panoramic, computed tomography or cephalometric image, wherein the chair is rigidly fixed to the frame and spaced from the column, and wherein the rotating part is adjustable from a first position about an object when the patient is sitting on the chair to a second position about the object when the patient is standing on the frame at a location spaced from the chair.

### Claim 17 (depends on 1)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 1, wherein the X-ray imaging system provides a first seated position for a patient on the chair, and a second standing position for a patient away from the chair.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 17, wherein the X-ray imaging system is configured such that at least one same imaging mode may be used at each of the first and second positions, and such that the same imaging may be taken of a patient regardless of whether the patient is sitting or standing.

### Claim 19 (depends on 18)

The X-ray dental imaging system of claim 18, wherein the at least one same imaging mode include a panoramic imaging mode and a computed tomography imaging mode.
