Abstract
A threaded drum is rotated by a drive shaft. As the threaded drum rotates, part of a cable is wrapped around the drum, while at the same time, a second part of the cable is unwrapped from the drum. Rotation of the drive shaft is based on rotation of an operator.

A drive system for a window sash linearly moveable in a frame, the drive system comprising:
- a housing securable to the frame and comprising at least one opening;
- a threaded drum at least partially disposed within the housing and rotatable about an axis;
- and
- at least one cable coupled to the threaded drum and the window sash, wherein at least a portion of the at least one cable is wrapped about the threaded drum and is extended through the at least one opening, and wherein upon rotation of the threaded drum, a take-up point of the at least one cable on the threaded drum and a pay-out point of the at least one cable on the threaded drum remain aligned with the at least one opening.

A window comprising:
- a frame;
- a window sash disposed within the frame;
- and
- a drive system configured to linearly move the window sash within the frame, the drive system comprising:
- an elongate threaded drum rotatable about an axis;
- and
- at least one cable having each end connected to the elongate threaded drum, wherein at least a portion of the at least one cable is wrapped about the elongate threaded drum and is secured to the window sash, and wherein upon rotation of the elongate threaded drum, a take-up point of the at least one cable on the elongate threaded drum and a pay-out point of the at least one cable on the elongate threaded drum translate along the elongate threaded drum.
