A method comprising:

• receiving, by at least one processor of a management system, a first metric for an operation of a computing device sampled from a plurality of computing devices identified by a hierarchical relationship comprising:
• a first relationship of a parent group to a child group, and a second relationship of the child group to the computing device;
• receiving, by the at least one processor of the management system, a second metric for the operation of the computing device, from the plurality of computing devices;
• calculating, by the at least one processor, a status value based on multiple metrics for at least one of the parent group and child group;
• generating, by the at least one processor, a notification based at least in part on the status value, wherein the notification is a result of a comparison between the status value and a threshold value;
• and
• outputting, by the at least one processor, the notification, wherein the notification corresponds to at least one of the parent group or child group.

A system, comprising:

• memory and at least one computer processor coupled to the memory and configured to perform operations comprising:
• receiving a first metric for an operation of a computing device sampled from a plurality of computing devices identified by a hierarchical relationship comprising:
• a first relationship of a parent group to a child group, and a second relationship of the group to the computing device;
• receiving a second metric for the operation of the computing device, from the plurality of computing devices;
• calculating a status value based on multiple metrics for at least one of the parent group and the child group;
• generating a notification based at least in part on the status value, wherein the notification is a result of a comparison between the status value and a threshold value;
• and
• outputting the notification, wherein the notification corresponds to at least one of the parent group or child group.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed on at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising:

• receiving a first metric for an operation of a computing device sampled from a plurality of computing devices identified by a hierarchical relationship comprising:
• a first relationship of a parent group to a child group, and a second relationship of the group to the computing device;
• receiving a second metric for the operation of the computing device, from the plurality of computing devices;
• calculating a status value based on multiple metrics for at least one of the parent group and the child group;
• generating a notification based at least in part on the status value, wherein the notification is a result of a comparison between the status value and a threshold value;
• and
• outputting the notification, wherein the notification corresponds to at least one of the parent group or child group.
