A method performed by a control node for supporting transmissions of reference signals in spatially differentiated beams from a first network node of a wireless network to enable measurement of the reference signals by any wireless device receiving the reference signals, the method comprising:

• sending an indication of a proposed sequence of beams to the first network node;
• and
• instructing the first network node to transmit, when the proposed sequence of beams is accepted by the first network node, a reference signal in at least one beam at a time according to the proposed sequence of beams.

A control node arranged to support transmissions of reference signals in spatially differentiated beams from a first network node of a wireless network to enable measurement of the reference signals by wireless any device receiving the reference signals, the control node being configured to:

• send an indication of a proposed sequence of beams to the first network node;
• and
• instruct the first network node to transmit, when the proposed sequence of beams is accepted by the first network node, a reference signal in at least one beam at a time according to the proposed sequence of beams.
