Abstract
Provided are a device and method for performing authentication in a wireless power transfer system. Provided is an authentication method in a wireless power transfer system including receiving a first packet including indication information on whether a target device supports an authentication function from the target device; transmitting, when the target device supports an authentication function, an authentication request message to the target device; receiving an authentication response message including a certificate on wireless charging from the target device in response to the authentication request message; and confirming authentication of the target device based on the authentication response message.

A wireless power transmitter comprising:
- a power conversion unit configured to transfer wireless power to a wireless power receiver by using magnetic coupling between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver;
- and
- a communication/control unit configured to control the wireless power and to perform transmission or reception of data based on communication with the wireless power receiver,
- wherein the communication/control unit receives from the wireless power receiver a configuration packet including a 1 bit flag which indicates the wireless power receiver supports out-of-band (OOB) communication, and transmits to the wireless power receiver a response which requests for a handover from an in-band (TB) communication to the OOB communication if the wireless power transmitter supports the OOB communication.
A method of data transmission performed by a wireless power transmitter, the method comprising:
- transmitting a ping signal to a wireless power receiver based on an in-band communication which uses a frequency used for wireless power transfer;
- receiving from the wireless power receiver a configuration packet including a 1 bit flag which indicates the wireless power receiver supports out-of-band (OOB) communication;
- and
- transmitting to the wireless power receiver a response which requests for a handover from an in-band (IB) communication to the OOB communication if the wireless power transmitter supports the OOB communication.
A wireless power receiver comprising:
- a power pickup unit configured to receive wireless power from a wireless power transmitter by using magnetic coupling between the wireless power transmitter and the wireless power receiver;
- and
- a communication/control unit configured to control the wireless power and to perform transmission or reception of data based on communication with the wireless power transmitter,
- wherein the communication/control unit transmits to the wireless power transmitter a configuration packet including a 1 bit flag which indicates the wireless power receiver supports out-of-band (OOB) communication, and receives from the wireless power transmitter a response which requests for a handover from an in-band (IB) communication to the OOB communication if the wireless power transmitter supports the OOB communication.
A method of data reception performed by a wireless power receiver, the method comprising:
- receiving a ping signal from a wireless power transmitter based on an in-band (IB) communication which uses a frequency used for wireless power transfer;
- transmitting to the wireless power transmitter a configuration packet including a 1 bit flag which indicates the wireless power receiver supports out-of-band (OOB) communication;
- and
- receiving from the wireless power transmitter a response which requests for a handover from the IB communication to the OOB communication if the wireless power transmitter supports the OOB communication.
