Abstract
A circuit includes first and second phase windings, a direct current (DC) power supply to convert alternating current (AC) power to DC power, at least one power switch between the first and second phase windings, and a controller to control the at least one power switch. The circuit also includes a component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of a cycle and a second component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a second portion of the cycle.

A circuit comprising:
- first and second phase windings;
- a direct current (DC) power supply to convert alternating current (AC) power to DC power;
- at least one power switch between the first and second phase windings;
- a controller to control the at least one power switch;
- a first non-collapsing DC power supply component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of a cycle;
- and
- a second non-collapsing DC power supply component to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a second portion of the cycle.
A circuit for a motor comprising:
- first and second phase windings;
- a direct current (DC) power supply to receive alternating current (AC) power transferred from the first and second phase windings and convert the AC power to DC power;
- at least one power switch between the first and second phase windings to receive AC power from the first and second phase windings;
- a controller to control the at least one power switch;
- a first component connected to the DC power supply to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of an AC cycle;
- and
- a second component connected to the DC power supply to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a second portion of the AC cycle.
A system for a motor comprising:
- first and second phase windings to receive alternating current (AC) power;
- a direct current (DC) power supply connected between the first and second phase windings to receive AC power transferred from the first and second phase windings and convert the AC power to DC power;
- at least one power switch between the first and second phase windings and outside of a current path between the first and second phase windings and the DC power supply;
- a controller to control the at least one power switch;
- and
- a plurality of components in parallel with the DC power supply to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of a cycle and a second portion of the cycle.
A method for a circuit of a motor comprising:
- providing first and second phase windings;
- providing a direct current (DC) power supply to receive alternating current (AC) power transferred from the first and second phase windings and convert the AC power to DC power;
- providing at least one power switch between the first and second phase windings to receive AC power from the first and second phase windings;
- providing a controller to control the at least one power switch;
- providing a first component connected to the DC power supply to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of an AC cycle;
- and
- providing a component connected to the DC power supply to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a second portion of the AC cycle.
A method for a circuit of a motor comprising:
- providing first and second phase windings, the first and second phase windings receiving alternating current (AC) power;
- providing a direct current (DC) power supply connected between the first and second phase windings to receive AC power transferred from the first and second phase windings and to convert the AC power to a DC power;
- providing at least one power switch between the first and second phase windings;
- providing a controller to control the at least one power switch;
- and
- providing a plurality of components in parallel with the DC power supply to prevent the DC power supply from collapsing when the at least one power switch is on during a first portion of a cycle and a second portion of the cycle.
