Abstract
An electrolyte additive composition of the present invention may improve high-rate charge and discharge characteristics and high-temperature storage and life characteristics of a lithium secondary battery when the electrolyte additive composition is used in an electrolyte while including a novel borate-based lithium compound as well as a nitrile-based compound.

An electrolyte additive composition comprising:
- a borate-based lithium compound represented by Formula 1;
- and
- a nitrile-based compound represented by Formula 2,
- wherein the electrolyte additive composition does not comprise a phosphate-based compound:
- wherein, in Formula 1,
- Y1 to Y4 are each independently oxygen (O) or sulfur (S), and
- N≡C—R1—C≡N [Formula 2]
- wherein, in Formula 2,
- R1 is an alkylene group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms.
