Electric vehicle battery cell

A method of providing battery cell of a battery pack to power electric vehicles, comprising:

• providing a housing having a first end and a second end, the housing defining an inner region;
• disposing an electrolyte in the inner region defined by the housing;
• providing a lid;
• coupling the lid with the first end of the housing using a gasket to seal the battery cell, the gasket having a first gasket surface and a second gasket surface;
• and
• crimping the first end of the housing to form a crimped edge that is disposed about the first gasket surface to couple the gasket with the first end of the housing and positon the second gasket surface adjacent to the electrolyte, the crimped edge having a first crimped surface and a second crimped surface that opposes the first gasket surface;
• and
• forming a predetermined pattern on the first crimped surface to bond a wire with the first crimped surface.

An electric vehicle, comprising:

• a battery pack having a battery cell, the battery cell comprising:
• a housing having a first end and a second end, the housing defining an inner region;
• an electrolyte disposed in the inner region defined by the housing;
• a lid;
• a gasket that couples the lid with the first end of the housing to seal the battery cell, the gasket having a first gasket surface and a second gasket surface;
• and
• the first end of the housing having a crimped edge disposed about the first gasket surface to couple the gasket with the first end of the housing and positon the second gasket surface adjacent to the electrolyte;
• and
• the crimped edge having a first crimped surface, the first crimped surface having a predetermined pattern to bond a wire with the first crimped surface, and the crimped edge having a second crimped surface that opposes the first gasket surface.
