System and method for enabling receipt of electronic payments

A system for performing an electronic payment transaction, the system comprising:

• a processor implemented payment server configured for:
• receiving user input identifying a transaction amount;
• receiving a first set of biometric information defining a biometric feature of a payment transferee, wherein said first set of biometric information is acquired through a first biometric feature sensor;
• acquiring a first biometric template, wherein said first biometric template is generated based on the acquired first set of biometric information;
• and
• transferring the transaction amount from a first electronic payment account associated with a payment transferor to a second electronic payment account associated with the payment transferee, wherein the second electronic payment account is identified based on the first biometric template.

A computer program product for performing an electronic payment transaction, comprising a non-transitory computer usable medium having computer readable program code embodied therein, the computer readable program code comprising instructions for:

• receiving user input identifying a transaction amount;
• acquiring through a first biometric feature sensor, a first set of biometric information defining a biometric feature of a payment transferee;
• generating a first biometric template based on the acquired first set of biometric information;
• and
• transferring the transaction amount from a first electronic payment account associated with a payment transferor to a second electronic payment account associated with the payment transferee, wherein the second electronic payment account is identified based on the first biometric template.
