Method for forming a high resolution image by lensless imaging

A method for forming an image of a sample comprising:

• a) illuminating the sample with a light source;
• b) acquiring a plurality of images of the sample using an image sensor, the sample being placed between the light source and the image sensor, such that:
• the sample is immobile with respect to the light source between each acquisition;
• no magnifying optics are placed between the sample and the image sensor;
• the image sensor lies in a detection plane, the image sensor being moved, in the detection plane, between two successive acquisitions;
• and
• each acquired image is respectively associated with a position of the image sensor in the detection plane, each position being different from the next, each acquired image having a field of observation, each acquired image containing pixels;
• c) calculating a movement of each acquired image with respect to a reference image in which the image sensor occupies a reference position;
• and
• d) forming a high-resolution image, from the acquired images and the movement calculated for each thereof, the high-resolution image having a field of observation corresponding to an intersection of the fields of observation of each acquired image, the high-resolution image containing more pixels than each acquired image.
