Abstract
A method is provided in one example embodiment and may include assembling a first component and a second component together using, at least in part, a first adhesive film on the first component and a second adhesive film on the second component, wherein the first component and the second component are fully cured and the first adhesive film and the second adhesive film are at least partially uncured; and curing the first adhesive film and the second adhesive film to form a bonded structure.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- assembling a first component and a second component together using, at least in part, a first adhesive film on the first component and a second adhesive film on the second component, wherein the first component and the second component are fully cured and the first adhesive film and the second adhesive film are at least partially uncured;
- and
- curing the first adhesive film and the second adhesive film to form a bonded structure.
A method comprising:
- assembling a first ply stack, wherein the first ply stack comprises a plurality of first plies and a first adhesive film, and the first adhesive film comprises a backing film on one surface;
- curing the first ply stack using a first cure cycle to form a first component;
- assembling a second ply stack, wherein the second ply stack comprises a plurality of second plies and a second adhesive film, and the second adhesive film comprises a backing film on one surface;
- curing the second ply stack using a second cure cycle to form a second component;
- removing the backing film of the first adhesive film and the backing film of the second adhesive film;
- assembling the first component and the second component using, at least in part, the first adhesive film and the second adhesive film;
- and
- curing the first adhesive film and the second adhesive film using a third cure cycle to form a bonded structure.
