Dovetail tool changer for industrial manipulators

A dovetail tool changer, comprising:

• a first plate configured to be constrained to an external handling system, for example a robotic arm;
• a second plate configured to be constrained to a tool;
• wherein the second plate is insertable into a pocket defined in the first plate, and
• wherein the first plate and the second plate have complementary shapes in the cross section and define a dovetailed coupling,
• a locking device, which locks the second plate in the pocket of the first plate, the locking device comprises at least one floating element movable between a lock position, at which the at least one floating element exerts a thrust onto the second plate and prevents the disengagement thereof with respect to the first plate, and an unlock position, at which the second plate can be separated from the first plate,
• wherein the locking device comprises at least one thrust element coupled to said at least one floating element and configured to be displaced along a first direction in response to an outer force exerted by the user, and
• wherein the position of the at least one floating element with respect to the second plate depends only on the position taken by the at least one the thrust element along said first direction.
