Abstract
The present disclosure provides vaccine compositions and methods for inducing a systemic immune response and a mucosal immune response, wherein the vaccine compositions include an antigen and a hepatitis B core virus-like particle (HBc VLP) as an adjuvant. The vaccine compositions are suitable for administration to the mucosal surface of a subject, and are effective in eliciting a protective immune response against infection.

A vaccine composition comprising an antigen and an adjuvant, wherein the adjuvant is a hepatitis B core virus-like particle (HBc VLP) having an amino acid sequence at least 80% identical to an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:
- 1 and having the same function as SEQ ID NO:
- 1, and wherein the antigen is derived from respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
A method of vaccinating a subject, comprising administering the vaccine composition of claim 1 to a mucosal surface of the subject.
