Abstract
A system including a first base sheet, a second base sheet, a first plurality of individual strip sections extending out of said first base sheet, a second plurality of individual strip sections extending out of the second base sheet, wherein said first plurality of individual strip sections are operable for engagement and disengagement with said second base sheet and wherein said second plurality of individual strip sections are operable for engagement and disengagement with said first base sheet to enable and maintain wound closure and allow application of antibiotics to prevent and/or treat wound infection or application of other topical agents without removing and replacing the system.
Claims20
A system consisting of:
- a first base sheet including an upper surface portion and an under surface portion, in which said first base sheet is configured to be disposed on a proximate vicinity of a wound or incision;
- an array of a first engaging material disposed on said upper surface portion of said first base sheet;
- a second base sheet having a proximate upper surface and under surface portions, in which said second base sheet is configured to be disposed on a proximate vicinity of the wound or incision, adjacent the vicinity of said first base sheet;
- an array of a second engaging material disposed on said upper surface portion of the second base sheet;
- a first plurality of individual strip sections extending out of said first base sheet, wherein said first plurality of individual strip sections are operable for engagement and disengagement with said second base sheet;
- a second plurality of individual strip sections extending out of the second base sheet, wherein said second plurality of individual strip sections are operable for engagement or disengagement with said first base sheet;
- said second plurality of individual strip sections are configured to interweave with said first plurality of individual strip sections, wherein said first and second plurality of individual strip sections are configured to be pulled in opposing directions to draw an edge portion of the wound or incision together;
- and
- wherein said first and second plurality of individual strip sections engages with said first and second base sheets to generally close the edge portion of the wound or incision together, to substantially aid in a closure and healing of the wound or incision.
A system comprising:
- a first base sheet including an upper surface portion and an under surface portion, in which said first base sheet is configured to be operable for engaging said first base sheet with a proximate vicinity of a wound or incision;
- an array of a first engaging material engaged with said upper surface portion of said first base sheet;
- a second base sheet having a proximate upper surface and under surface portions, in which said second base sheet is configured to be operable for engaging said second base sheet with a proximate vicinity of the wound or incision, adjacent the vicinity of said first base sheet;
- an array of a second engaging material engaged with said upper surface portion of the second base sheet;
- a first plurality of individual strip sections extending out of said first base sheet, wherein said first plurality of individual strip sections are operable for engagement or disengagement with said second base sheet;
- a second plurality of individual strip sections extending out of the second base sheet, wherein said second plurality of individual strip sections are operable for engagement or disengagement with said first base sheet, in which said second plurality of individual strip sections are configured to interweave with said first plurality of individual strip sections, and wherein said first and second plurality of individual strip sections are configured to be operable for a person to grab and pull towards each other both said first and said second plurality of individual strip sections at gripping end portions whereby opposing edge portions of the wound or incision are commensurately pulled towards each other, when skin portions proximal to the edge portions are engaged with their respective first and second base sheets, as the person performs said inward pulling action;
- and
- wherein said first and second plurality of individual strip sections are configured to be operable to engage with said first and second base sheets to substantially hold a wound or incision closure position once the person has achieved a desired closure amount to thereby potentiate improved healing of the wound or incision.
The system of claim 4, further comprising an array of first mating material engaged with an under surface portion of each of said first plurality of individual strip sections, wherein said array of first mating materials are operable for engagement with said second base sheet.
A system comprising:
- a first base sheet including an upper surface and under surface portions, in which said first base sheet is configured to be engaged with a vicinity of a wound or incision;
- an array of loop materials engaged with the upper surface portion of the first base sheet;
- a second base sheet having an upper surface and under surface portions, in which said second base sheet is configured to be engaged with a vicinity of the wound or incision, adjacent the vicinity of said first base sheet;
- an array of hook materials is engaged with the upper surface portion of the second base sheet;
- a first plurality of individual strip sections extending out of the first base sheet, wherein said first plurality of individual strip sections are operable for close and open positions;
- a second plurality of individual strip sections extending out of the second base sheet, wherein said second plurality of individual strip sections are configured to interlace with said first plurality of individual strip sections in a close position;
- a tab implement without a patch of hook or loop material engaged with a proximate end portion of each of said first and second individual strip sections;
- wherein said first and second plurality of individual strip sections engages with said first and second base sheets to generally close the edge portion of the wound or incision together in said close position;
- and
- a topical agent, wherein said topical agent is operable for application to the wound or incision as individual strip sections are opened to expose the wound without removing the system, and wherein said individual strip sections are pressed into engagement with said base sheets after applying said topical agent, to the close position.
