Abstract
A laminated lithographic printing plate comprising an aluminum layer having a first side and a second side, an aluminum oxide layer coating the first side aluminum layer, optionally a second aluminum oxide layer coating the second side of the aluminum layer, an image forming layer coating the first aluminum oxide layer, an adhesive layer adhering to the second side of the aluminum layer or to said second aluminum oxide layer when second aluminum oxide layer is present, and a base layer coating the adhesive layer is provided.

1-20. (canceled)
A method of lithographic printing using a laminated lithographic printing plate, wherein the laminated lithographic printing plate comprises:
- an aluminum layer having a first side and a second side;
- an aluminum oxide layer coating the first side of the aluminum layer;
- optionally a second aluminum oxide layer coating the second side of the aluminum layer;
- an image forming layer coating the first aluminum oxide layer;
- an alkaline-soluble or acid-soluble adhesive layer adhering to the second side of the aluminum layer or to said second aluminum oxide layer when said second aluminum oxide layer is present;
- wherein the adhesive layer is accessible to and insoluble in oleophilic inks and alkaline or acidic aqueous fountain solutions used during step c), and aqueous or acidic developers used during step b);
- and
- a base layer coating the adhesive layer;
- the method comprising the steps of:
- a) imaging the plate using targeted radiation to produce an image on the plate;
- b) developing the plate either:
- i) off-press using an alkaline aqueous developer if the adhesive layer is acid-soluble or an acidic aqueous developer if the adhesive layer is alkaline-soluble;
- or
- ii) on-press using an oleophilic ink and an alkaline aqueous fountain solution if the adhesive layer is acid-soluble or an acidic aqueous fountain solution if the adhesive layer is alkaline-soluble;
- and
- c) printing using a printing press, the plate, an oleophilic ink, and an alkaline aqueous fountain solution if the adhesive layer is acid-soluble or an acidic aqueous fountain solution if the adhesive layer is alkaline-soluble.
