A method for the production and packaging of steel bars, rods or profiles, comprising:
- rolling bars, rods or profiles of indefinite length;
- diverting the bars, rods or profiles into at least a first flow and a second flow;
- cutting the at least first and second flows of bars, rods or profiles in portions having at least a first fixed length;
- transporting the portions of bars, rods or profiles with changing a speed of the portions with a speed changing device;
- rotating at least two cylinders, each of the cylinders having an outer surface with grooves or housings which, during the rotation, pass from an upper position where the grooves or housings receive the portions, to a lower position, where the grooves or housings offload the portions, wherein the grooves or housings have a second fixed length greater than the first fixed length and greater that a commercial length of the bars, rods or profiles;
- adjusting a speed of the speed changing device to handle the portions at a set speed rate such that the portions can be placed within respective grooves or housings on condition that the grooves or housings in the upper position receive relative portions while the grooves or housings in the lower position offload the portions, which have been previously received in the upper position, on at least one cooling plate;
- wherein each rotating cylinder is associated with a different speed changing device so that the grooves or housings of different rotating cylinders receive the portions at different speeds, depending on the fact that the grooves or housings belong to one first or to at least one second rotating cylinder and so that the portions have stop positions in the relative grooves or housings;
- and
- wherein the portions have the same positions within the grooves or housings, both for the first rotating cylinder and for the second rotating cylinder, so that the portions are arranged within the grooves or housings of each respective rotating cylinder always in the same positions, and
- wherein a first speed changing device is installed in front of a respective first rotating cylinder and maintains at first a respective first portion at a speed such that the first portion is arranged in a first housing or groove of the first rotating cylinder, while a second speed changing device is installed in front of a respective second rotating cylinder and maintains a respective second portion at a speed such that said second portion is arranged in a second housing or groove of the second rotating cylinder which is close to or next to, but spaced from, compared to the corresponding first housing or groove of the first rotating cylinder, so as to prevent overlap between the first portion with the second portion onto the cooling plate.
