## Abstract

Provided are a paging method, a residential access network user plane (RAN-UP) entity, a residential access network control plane (RAN-CP) entity and a user equipment (UE). The method includes that the RAN-UP entity receives a data packet transmitted from a core network and transmits to the RAN-CP entity. The RAN-CP entity encapsulates the data packet in a paging message and transmits the paging message to UE. The paging message carries a first indication message for indicating the UE to maintain in an inactive state when receiving the paging message, and extract the data packet from the paging message. In another aspect, the RAN-UP entity receives the data packet transmitted from the core network and transmits a data packet arrival indication or a paging indication to the RAN-CP entity. The RAN-CP entity encapsulates the paging message and transmits the paging message to the UE. The paging message carries a second indication message for indicating the UR to emigrate from the inactive state and enter into an active state, and receive the data packet transmitted by the RAN-UP entity when receiving the paging message.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A communication method, comprising:
receiving, by a first entity in a user plane, a data packet transmitted from a core network; and
transmitting, by the first entity, a control message to a a second entity in a control plane, wherein the control message is transmitted after receiving the data packet.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein
the data packet is received through a first interface.

### Claim 3

(canceled)

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein
the control message is transmitted through a second interface;
wherein the control message includes a data arrival indication for the data packet.

### Claim at position 5

5-6. (canceled)

### Claim 7

A paging method, comprising:
receiving, by a first entity in a control plane, a control message transmitted from a second entity in a user plane; and
transmitting, after receiving the control message, a paging message to a user equipment (UE),
wherein an indication message is carried in the paging message, the indication message is configured to indicate to the UE to emigrate from an inactive state and enter into an active state.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The paging method according to claim 7, wherein
the control message is received by the first entity through an interface, wherein the control message includes a data arrival indication for a data packet arrived at the second entity.

### Claim at position 8

9-11. (canceled)

### Claim 12

A paging method, comprising:
receiving, by a user equipment (UE), a paging message transmitted from a an access network control plane entity when the UE is in an inactive state;
extracting an indication message from the paging message; and
emigrating from the inactive state and entering into an active state based on the indication message.

### Claim at position 10

13-20. (canceled)

### Claim 21

A user equipment (UE), comprising:
a processor configured to:
receive a paging message transmitted from an access network control plane entity, wherein the paging message is received when the UE is in an inactive state;
extract an indication message from the paging message; and
emigrate from the inactive state and enter into an active state based on the indication message.

### Claim 22

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having executable instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, direct the processor to perform a method comprising:
receiving, by a first entity in a user plane, a data packet transmitted from a core network; and
transmitting, by the first entity, a control message to a second entity in a control plane, wherein the control message is transmitted after receiving the data packet.

### Claim 23 (depends on 22)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 22, wherein the data packet is received through a first interface.

### Claim 24 (depends on 22)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 22, wherein the control message is transmitted through a second interface;
wherein the control message includes a data arrival indication for the data packet.

### Claim 25

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having executable instructions stored thereon that, when executed by a processor, direct the processor to perform a method comprising:
receiving, by a first entity in a control plane, a control message transmitted from a second entity in a user plane; and
transmitting, after receiving the control message, a paging message to a user equipment (UE), wherein a indication message is carried in the paging message, the indication message is configured to indicate to the UE to emigrate from an inactive state and enter into an active state.

### Claim 26 (depends on 25)

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium according to claim 25, wherein the control message is received by the first entity through an interface, wherein the control message includes a data arrival indication for a data packet arrived at the second entity.
